Many employers encourage giving and charitable contributions by matching those charitable donations that their employees make. By contacting Human Resouces or discussing the contribution with your boss, you may double your contribution to the Centro Medico.

Centro Medico Humberto Parra is funded entirely from private donations and grants. The Daniels Hamant Foundation, a small foundation based in River Forest, Illinois, is our primary source of funding. Contributions from individuals also provide much needed financial support.

Marcella Paz, a 17 year girl from the nearby town of Buena Vista, came to Centro Medico in March 2006 with a scarf carefully draped around her neck. The scarf concealed a large mass in her neck. As the mass continued to grow, she noticed a decrease in energy and shortness of breath on minimal exertion. When her CBC was checked, she was profoundly anemic with a hemoglobin of 4 g/dl.
All the available volunteers at Centro Medico, including a young German man who was just looking for a place to stay for the night, immediately donated much needed blood to Marcella. Centro Medico staff arranged for a biopsy. It turned out Marcella had stage IV Hodgkin's disease. She underwent 6 months of chemotherapy.
All evidence of Marcella's Hodgkin's disease is now gone and oncologists are optimistic that she has been cured. Marcella is now feeling much better and has returned to school after a 3-year absence due to her illness.
Centro Medico and the Daniels Hamant Foundation are happy to help another patient story regain health and well-being. Centro Medico paid for Marcella's treatment, which totaled over $8,000. Centro Medico and the Daniels Hamant Foundation appreciate any contributions that would help Centro Medico provide for our other cancer patients.
Buy a Centro Medico Humberto Parra T-shirt to show support for the clinic. Each t-shirt costs $20, which covers the cost of making the shirt, shipping, and the rest goes towards the clinic.
We all know the machine as the typical first picture of your child, but in a rural setting, it can provide many of your medical imaging needs. It is a great tool for kidney and gall bladder stones as well as pelvic abnormalities. It has been on our wishlist of items since we began.
In 2003, the Zeigler family decided to honor their parents, John and Patricia Zeigler, by donating to Centro Medico. At the time, Centro Medico was working toward building an ophthalmology suite to address the growing need for eye care at the clinic. The generous contribution from the Zeigler family paid for the equipment in the ophthalmology suite and the Zeigler Centro de Ojos (Zeigler Eye Center) was created.
Patients now receive vision exams, prescriptions, glasses, help with cataract treatment and other eye care services. In 2006, an eye care brigade from the US came to the Zeigler Centro de Ojos to help patients with vision problems. Centro Medico patients are seeing better all thanks to the tribute donation from the Zeigler family!
